Southland
Past Presidents Club was founded in 1968. Its mission is to enable
children and grandchildren of Sons of Norway members in 21 Southern
California & Nevada Lodges to attend the Sixth District's
Language and Heritage Camp at Alta, CA, who might not otherwise
be able to attend. Its membership dues are used exclusively for
this purpose, and selection is made annually via a lottery amongst
eligible applicants.
Membership
in SPPC is derived from any past or present presidents of Sons
of Norway lodges, currently numbering 20 in eight Southern California
counties and with two lodges in Clark County, Nevada. Past and
present Sixth District Officers are also eligible to belong.
In
addition to its stated mission, SPPC shares a fraternal bond among
its members, developed through years of leadership. It offers
that experience to those who seek it, while at the same time enjoying
the camaraderie of all Sons of Norway members. We believe in "Fun
in Fund Raising" when we have social get-togethers that are
designed to raise funds for our cause without an undue amount
of effort on the part of committees or officers of the club. We
welcome the support of lodges that wish to help our efforts with
a social dedicated to our cause, or to sponsoring raffles in our
behalf.
We
believe in maximizing the use of our beautiful camp in the Sierras,
and what better way than to send as many children as possible
to a Language and Heritage session each year?
Individuals
may join on their own, or we invite lodges to honor their past
presidents' service by awarding them a Life Membership in SPPC.
We have just one class of dues--$50 for a LIFE Membership.
